Clouds will continue to thicken this morning and look for light rain to overspread the area from west to east late today and tonight. The Houston area should start seeing some light rain by around sunset with it holding off over Acadiana after midnight tonight. Rain will be pretty steady through Wednesday morning and will end, again, from west to east Wednesday afternoon/evening. I can't rule out some lingering showers when the kids off of school or the evening commute around Houston, but most areas should be dry. A little better chance of lingering light rain will exist over Acadiana through the evenings commute tomorrow.
Total rainfall amounts have been trending lower as the low pressure that is forming over the Gulf will draw more moisture closer to it and bring drier air in from the north. Most areas will still see 0.10 to 0.30 inch of rain. Closer to the coast, and where a few heavier bands develop, an inch to 1.5 inches could fall.
A secondary disturbance could bring some additional rain in Thursday afternoon and Thursday night, but much like this first system, the heaviest rain will remain offshore or across the Delta of SE LA. Friday looks pretty warm and humid, then we get another surge of cool fall air over the weekend. The intimal cold front will sweep through Saturday morning. I think morning lows will be a little cooler than this last cool snap and the coolest temperatures will be early next week.
