Gradually warming the rest of the year...then chilly and wetter next week

Temperatures bottomed out in the mid to upper 30s around Houston this morning. Around Acadiana, Lafayette saw a low in the mid 30s while Opelousas fell to 32F and Eunice 30F. Temperatures and moisture levels will be on a rising trend through the ringing in of the new year, but look for a front to sweep through early New Years morning brining a return to chillier conditions...maybe a few showers too. Rain should be brief and shouldn't amount to much where it does occur.

Temperatures well remain pretty chilly through next week with a lot of clouds and two storm systems that should bring in bursts of rain. The first one will be Tuesday night / Wednesday with the second one on Friday or early Saturday. Each system will bring a good chance of an inch or two of rain, but the second one seems a little stronger than the first. I'm not expecting any severe thunderstorms, but I wouldn't be surprised to see reports of small hail in any heavy thunderstorms that develop.

I hope everyone is continuing to have a great Christmas season!
