Hot today, much colder and dry this weekend

A shot of heat and humidity today will give way to a colder and much drier weekend as a cold front will push through tonight. High pressure building in behind front won't settle across the area until Monday, so look winds to be a little gusty through the the weekend. Also, coldest temperatures won't be until Monday and Tuesday... when the winds settle. Currently, it looks like Tuesday morning will be the coldest with a low in the 40s over Acadiana and upper 40s to low 50s around Houston. Brrrrr. Saturday night will certainly feel quite chilly as well with the wind still lingering.

I can't rule out a shower or two ahead of the front tonight, but it won't amount to much. Showers that manage to develop, will be small and quick.

After the very chilly start Tuesday, we'll warm up through mid week and things look mostly dry through mid week. Rain chances vary wildly late next week based on the latest long range models. Most of the data does point to another cold front late next week, but the extent of rain along and ahead of it, is very uncertain at this point.
