For the two people that enjoy these posts, sorry its been while. I'll likely not post very often for now, but will throw something out there when there is something special to post about.
With that being said, we are looking at a pretty significant thunderstorm event tonight and tomorrow morning across SE TX through Acadiana. They'll likely be a nasty cluster of storms fire over Deep South Texas late this evening which will track through Houston during the pre-dawn hours and into Cen-La and/or Acadiana near or just after sunrise. There could be some trailing thunderstorms over Acadiana through noon, but the initial batch of storms will be the strongest.
What's special about this potential event is the amount of atmospheric energy being put into the the development of storms. Yeah, there will be some unstable air to work with, but the upper level lift present is quite strong for our area. With that in mind, look for areas being impacted by the strong cluster of storms (exact path is still uncertain, but a good chance it will affect much of the greater Houston area and northern portions of Acadiana) to see widespread wind gusts to 40-50 mph and some spots could see gusts to 70-80 mph. A few tornadoes are possible, which can always be extremely impactful to some isolated locations, but I think the widespread nature of the strong straight line wind gusts will make this event special (not in a good way). Also, with the impacts coming early in the morning for many areas, I'm hoping it doesn't take too many folks by surprise.
Batten down the hatches...and God Bless!
