Mild and cloudy into the Holiday Weekend

Moisture levels continue to rise across the Bayou City and Cajun Country behind east-southeasterly winds. It looks like Acadiana is seeing a bit of sun this morning, but clouds will become more prevalent as we head into the Holiday weekend. The Houston area is pretty socked in with clouds along with a little mist/fog. I wish I was on the bayou.
Looking at the radar, showers are remaining off to the west and offshore this morning but a few showers will be possible across Southeast Texas later this morning and through the rest of the day. Acadiana should remain dry today. A few showers will remain possible tomorrow morning, especially over Southeast Texas, but more widespread rain will move in across the Houston area after 3-4pm with rain likely through Sunday morning. The widespread rain will move in across Acadiana Saturday night and will continue through midday Sunday. A few linger showers could remain Saturday afternoon and it won't be until Christmas eve night and into Christmas before things really dry out behind gusty northwest winds. Christmas is looking really nice with drier and cooler conditions.
Rainfall totals will average a little above an inch to a little above 2 inches but some locals could get a little less or more. Also, there might be a few embedded thunderstorms, but there shouldn't be a threat of strong/severe thunderstorms.
Next week looks great. Chilly in the morning and cool to mild in the afternoon and no rain. We might be on the heels of the next storm system by New Years but its hard to tell if it will occur right on the holiday or just after. Regardless, count on a warming/moistening trend leading up to New Years.
Merry Christmas!
