Typical Gulf Coast Christmas weather continues...rain coming

Cool to mild temperatures will continue through the rest of the week with skies partly to mostly cloudy. Clouds will thicken up tomorrow, but today there should be periods of sun. Can't rule out a few showers later today and tomorrow over the Houston area, but they should be light where they do occur. Acadiana should remain dry through tomorrow.
A series of Pacific systems rolling out of California and through the Southern Rockies will bring deeper moisture and rain into the forecast Friday through Christmas Eve. Acadiana should stay east of most of the rain Friday, but some areas of rain will likely lift in on Saturday. Showers should be areawide on Sunday. Drier air should kick in by Christmas Day which should end rain chances, but that's not 100% yet. I'm watching a third disturbance that will try to bring some rain back in sometime in the Monday through Wednesday time frame. Right now, it looks good for Christmas Day. Rain totals through the weekend should vary from 1-3 inches areawide. Locally, 3-5 inches could fall.
Even though Christmas parties will have to deal with a little wet weather this weekend, at least temperatures won't be extreme like they tend to be this time of year (too cold or too hot). Upper 50s to low 70s will be the range. The humidity will be high though, so you'll likely have to kick on the AC to make it feel more comfortable.
God Bless!
