Very warm...then very cold

Hold on to your butts as we'll see quite the change in temperatures today. Southeast Texas and southern Louisiana will see temperates get up to near 80F this afternoon with high humidity which will be followed by a strong cold front late. The cold front will blast through the Houston area just after sunset and it'll make its way through Acadiana a little later, but before midnight.

As far as rain chances, not much out there now and I don't expect much through most of today. There could be a few showers here and there this afternoon but the best chances of rain will come just ahead of the front. There should be a very broken band of showers and a few thunderstormd develop near or just south/east of Houston ahead of the front with the band becoming a little more solid as it spreads through southern Lousiana. A lot of areas around Houston may not see much at all, but I think most areas in Acadiana will at least see a little rain. An isoalted strong storm or two is possible with could lead to localiazed rainfall amounts of around 0.50-0.75 inch, but most areas will see less. Also, isolated stronger storms that develop could produce frequent lightning, locally strong wind gusts and hail. I'm not expecting much of a tornado threat.

Behind the front, temps will drop pretty quick and winds will be very gusty. Pretty classic strong front for this time of year. Sunday will be pretty chilly with winds gradually tappering off...but staying a bit gusty. Temperatues will bottom out Monday morning as winds settle. Most areas will see a low down in the 30s Monday morning and I think a good portion of Acadiana will see a light freeze. It will depend on if winds settle completely and if there are any high clouds.

Next week looks pretty chilly and mostly dry. Temperatures should gradualy moderate through the week and it looks like rain chances will be back late week or early next weekend.
