Wet and cool!

The weather pattern continues to trend more El Nino-ish as we are looking a pretty cloudy, rainy and cool next several days. Areas of light to moderate rain are expected areawide through the day today as the front continues to sag southward. Rain amounts won't add up to too much, but some spots in SE TX could see another 0.25 to 0.75 inch. Elsewhere, it'll be less. A weak disturbance will keep areas of rain in the forecast on Saturday with some pockets of heavy rainfall possible. The heaviest rain should remain offshore; however.
Things get a bit more interesting on Monday. A potent disturbance moving out of northern Mexico will produce a low pressure in the Gulf. This low will ramp up winds offshore and lead to some areas of heavy rain and embedded thunderstorms. Some models suggest SE TX and southern LA will see a few to several inches of rain out of this system, and other data suggests a bit less. Either way, Monday looks quite wet. Its just uncertain whether it will be a drought buster or a good soak. I think the front will be too far south to allow for the heavier rain models to be correct, but some areas of 3-5 inches of rain is possible.
Regardless, the rare LA fire season is over and the El Nino pattern is cranking up. The drought conditions will be gone soon. Praise God!
